Dakota Wicohan is a non-profit organization that is working to revitalize Dakota as a living language, and through it, transmit Dakota lifeways to future generations.  Learning some Dakota words and engaging in lessons of the language, culture and lifeways, the Lunch and Learn audience will walk away not only informed of Dakota history but engaged in conversation about its future.  Please join us for an interactive program that is bound to open your eyes to a unique part of Minnesota’s past and present.

Prohibition Tour of Granite Falls

Take a prohibition tour of downtown Granite Falls while learning about the 1930s and the man behind the law making alcohol production, sale, and consumption illegal. Enjoy lunch at Bootlegger’s Supper Club and be amused on the topic of the Minnesota gangster scene.

Trekking around this tough, natural terrain and learning about the two unique Minnesota cactuses will be followed by lunch at the Grandview Winery in Belview, MN.

Sponsorship information: Becoming a gold member allows you to sponsor the MVHLC Explorer Program which is a three week learning adventure for kids in grades 1-6 to experience the river valley through unique presentations and hands-on experiences in the field.  This summer the Explorer Program will engage 6 school districts in three cities: Redwood Falls, Morton and Winthrop.  For more information on the Explorer Program, click here.
